Champlain was founded by brothers Leroy and Wilford Torville and the company was then called “American Super Temp Wires”.
In 1959 the Company became a subsidiary of Haveg Industries. In the early 1980’s Hercules sold Haveg Industries, but kept Super Temp renaming it “Champlain Cable” after the nearby Lake Champlain which is the 6th largest freshwater lake in North America.

This cable meets the requirements of BS7211:1998 specification and fully complies with the London Underground Standard L-1085 A3. This cable uses LSZH thermoset insulation and is used for power, control, lighting and instrumentation applications in Transit, Highway and Infrastructure schemes.
